An awesome first day!

We had a great first day, everyone!

With only a few spurts of rain, we were able to get one roof off, half a house primed for painting, interior house primed, tree branches cut from power lines, a porch leveled, and the beginning process of replacing windows in full-swing!

The team, of course, went to the infamous Dairy King for ice cream and debriefing tonight.  We saw God in so many ways from young children opening up at VBS to hearing about Juanita's husband and their life together of 56 years before he passed 1 year ago today.  It is true ... we may coe to be a blessing, but we sure are the ones who are blessed!

Please pray that the weather holds out so we may continue making swift progress on the roofing projects, for continued team unity, and that God may open our eyes to see what He is doing in Philippi and how we may get in the flow of that!

More than we could imagine ....

It's been a great couple of days here in Masindi!

Our drilling team completed drilling one well, hitting water at 140 feet. The Ugandan drilling team had been there 9 days total while we were there for 5 days. It felt great to get the team mobilized and to a new well site! We set up yesterday and got down 50 feet when the hydrolic seals gave out .... not what we wanted to see happen! So we had to pull out all the piping and shut down for the day. Hopefully all repairs will be made today and they'll be back up and running!

The Health team has spend time teaching the staff at the Masindi Kitara Medical Clinic. After getting a tour, they set up a teaching schedule and have had a great turn out so far! They also went to Kiliango, which is a small village near Hoima where the drilling team placed a well last April. Child health in the village has multiplied due to the clean water from the well our team drilled! The Health team had a packed house as they taught about child health and safety. Today we will be heading to Hoima to visit with our Jeremiah Orphan Ministry kids! What a good day it will be!

Blessings back home from all of us in Masindi!

Drilling and Teaching ... So Busy!

Hi everyone!

We are doing well and haven't had any major sicknesses thus far!

The health team finished a 2-day seminar at St. Luke's church in Bweyale. We had over 80 people between the 2 days and over 60 children. They all heard about God's purpose and will for sexuality, the basics about human reproduction, and water safety and nutrition. They also visited the Masindi Kitara Medical Clinic that opened a year ago. They have an amazing staff that all seek the Lord ... absolutely beautiful! The health team will do some teachings for the staff on Thursday and Saturday.

The Water team has been up in Kiriandongo. The Ugandan drilling team started drilling a well prior to our arrival. They haven't been able to drill as quickly as they would like so they are hoping to get water today, get some casing in and finish that well today. The team is planning to mobilize to a new location tomorrow.

Each evening we have a special time of Bible Study and prayer ... it's been a very sweet time that the team has valued and it has kept Scripture and God's truth on our hearts.

Continue to pray for all of us:
- It is very hot here! And dry ... so you tend to not realize you're dehydrated until the headache has kicked in .... please pray for our stamina.
- The wells .... that we are able to find water quickly and the team can reach its goal! But we know that God has specific things He is doing every day with those that surround the well site!
- Jeremiah Orphan Day on Friday - that we could get as many students as possible to join us for a special day to get updates and pictures of the children.
- CEED Team Travels - they will be traveling tomorrow and Thursday to arrive in Hoima ... please pray for safe travels!

Thank you for your prayers!

CCGF Uganda Missions 2012

What a way to start off the New Year! We are partnering with CEED (www.ceed-trust.org) to spend the next 19 days traveling to Uganda to repair and put in new clean water wells in the Masindi area. The church did an amazing job raising funds during the Easter season that is going towards repairing 17 wells and build 6 new wells! In addition, we will teach about clean water, basic health, and sexual reproduction in the villages we visit. We will be devoting a day to spend with our Jeremiah Orphan Ministry kids and our Adopt-A-Pastors. Clearly, we have a lot to do while we are there ... still being open to whatever God will have us do --- who we will meet along the way; the visitations to new places; etc.

Please pray for us over the next two days. We will be traveling a total of 26 hours between flights and layovers just to get to Kampala on 1/11. From there, we will have a nice, long car ride to Masindi on the 12th to arrive at our hotel. Our work sites will begin on the 13th!

Please pray specifically for:
- HEALTH! We've got folks dealing with back pain, foot injuries, and more
- Awareness: that we are aware of our surroundings;
- Openness: and that we would be open to seeing not just the immediate need, but what is needed for long-term change

We hope to update the blog so please feel free to leave comments and encouragements for the team!

I will post the schedule of our time there tomorrow while we wait to board the plane!

Please Pray for Phillipi Missions

As we step into the first stages of a new mission focus in Phillipi, WV, please pray for the following:
  • that we may have open eyes, ears, minds, and hearts to see what God is doing in Phillipi
  • that we may take the opportunities given to us to share the Gospel
  • that God may be known on Main Street
  • Safety for our team
  • that God would reveal more of what our partnership can look like
